COMPONENTS IN A MOBILE PROCESSOR
IN THIS BLOG I WILL BE EXPLAINING DIFFERENT COMPONENTS IN A MOBILE PROCESSOR
A TYPICAL SNAPDRAGON PROCESSOR STRUCTURE:
As you can see the main components architecture might not change in a soc. there will be some changes in the components when they get upgraded (X16 LTE modem is previous version for snapdragon 835 where X20 LTE modem is for 845 )
For every year the SOC will gets upgraded when compared to its predecessor so every component in the soc will get upgraded.so i will be explaining what the actual component does in the soc.
Now lets move on to the different components in the soc
1)Snapdragon LTE modems : Snapdragon LTE modems are responsible for the network reception and signals of the mobile.It is also responsible for the peek upload and download internet speeds over the network.the latest snapdragon 855 processor is capable of 5g speeds and it supports high downloading speeds upto few gigabits.Here there is a limitation how fast your network provider is limited their speeds.
2)WIFI:WIFI is the another component which is responsible for the control over the mobile hotspot and wifi connectivity.
* In wifi there are two bands 2.4 ghz and 5ghz
* 2.4 ghz has lang range but lower speeds where 5ghz has short range but supports higher speeds.
3)Hexagon dsp:It is a technology used by the snapdragon processors in which it supplies the needs of multimedia and modem functions and reduces the loads on the cpu cores which increases the performance and decreases power consumption rather than pushing in clock speeds of a cpu it uses work per cycle which is more efficient
4)aqstic audio:it is the qualcomms audio technology in which it enhances audio experience and delivers the best audio with high resolution with clear and loud sound.and it has support for wide range of audio codecs.
5)System memory:System memory is the amount of ram present in the chip the more amount of ram the chip contains the more applications can be run in background or keep in memory without reloading or refreshing.
Now a days a typical smartphone has a minimum of 4gb of system memory or ram
6)Aderno gpu :Aderno is the graphics processing unit(gpu) present in the soc .it is responsible for the rendering of graphics in mobile games .Any work related with the graphics will be processed by the gpu preset in soc.Resolution of the screen and high resolution media playback like 4k videos depend on gpu.
7)Spectra ISP:ISP means Internet Service Provider , just kidding :-) .ISP means image signal processor . it is the component which is responsible for processing of the images.also it gives the details about maximum resolutions of the photos and videos. the maximum support for camera in megapixel also depends on spectra ISP.
8)Kyro cpu: kyro cpu's are the redesigned cpu from the arm.these are more powerful and power efficient.these redesigned arm cortex cpu's are called kyro cpu's. the performance is improved when compared to the arm cortex cpu.there will be higher clocking speeds and higher performance.
the overclocked snapdragon 845 can clock upto 2.96 ghz in asus gaming phone.
9)Secure processing unit:it gives the enhanced security to the files and keep the secure information more secure.the information like facial data or biometric information can be stolen or hacked by using malware. so the secure processing unit takes care for all that kind of stuff.
